The
brothers Luis and Jorge Peique and their sister Mar ran Bodegas Peique on
2001. That year, the winery building was finished and the long tradition of
Peique family as vine growers changed into a present and a future as wine
producers. According to their Bierzo origin, the indigenous Mencía is the very
main grape (if not the only one) in their wines. This Peique 2011 is vinified
as a young wine, expressing the varietal features of Mencía and the personality
of the terroir of Valtuille de Abajo.
Vintage
tasted: 2011 (September 2012)
Please note that the vintage of the Peique Tinto Mencia that is in VINTAGES at the moment is 2010. The title and body of your article incorrectly says "Peique 2011," whereas the third line shows the vintage correctly of 2010.
ReplyDeleteHi Bernard, and thank you for your comment. We have stated Peique 2011 because that's the vintage that our team in Spain has tasted. It is the current vintage there and we have received it directly from the winery. When we taste a vintage different than the one available in the stores, we specify it in the 'Available' line of our reviews. I hope this is clear enough...
